Manufacturers typically use die-cast aluminum alloys for the cabinet frame, as this material provides a high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent dimensional stability. A well-designed cabinet features a flatness tolerance of less than 0.5 mm between adjacent cabinets, ensuring a seamless visual surface without visible gaps or steps. The locking mechanism is a critical component; precision-engineered quick-lock systems with steel or reinforced aluminum connectors allow for tool-less assembly and disassembly. These locks must withstand repeated use without deformation, maintaining alignment accuracy over hundreds of installation cycles. To maintain image visibility and contrast, the LED display must deliver a sustained brightness of at least 1500 nits, with premium models offering 2000 to 2500 nits. Additionally, redundant power inputs and data signal connections allow for daisy-chaining cabinets, reducing cabling complexity and setup time.
Although trade shows are indoor events, the handling and transportation of cabinets expose them to dust, moisture, and physical shock. The cabinet design must therefore meet specific ingress protection (IP) ratings. For the front of the display, an IP40 rating is standard, protecting against tools and small particles larger than 1.0 mm. The rear of the cabinet should achieve at least IP20, with some designs incorporating IP30 for the electronics compartment to prevent accidental contact.
