The most common symptoms include dead pixels, partial screen blackouts, color distortion, and flickering. Understanding the underlying architecture — which includes the LED modules, receiving cards, sending card, power supply units (PSUs), and cabling — is essential before performing any troubleshooting. An IP rating of IP30 is standard for indoor P2.5 panels, meaning they are protected against solid objects over 2.5 millimeters but not against water ingress. Therefore, moisture-related failures are less common indoors but can still occur due to condensation or accidental spills.

Diagnosing Power Supply and Connection Issues

If the entire screen shows no signal, confirm that the sending card is detected by the computer and that the resolution output matches the display’s native resolution, which for a 2.5mm pitch panel is often 1920 x 1080 pixels for a standard cabinet layout. Reboot the sending card by cycling power to the control system. In some cases, the receiving card’s firmware becomes corrupted. Dead pixels in a P2.5 LED display are typically caused by failed surface-mount device (SMD) LEDs. A single dead pixel appears as a tiny black or bright spot. If the pixel is completely dark, it is likely an open circuit in the LED die. If it remains bright, it is shorted.
