Unlike indoor control rooms, outdoor installations face challenges such as temperature extremes, humidity, rain, dust, and direct solar radiation. The display must also support continuous operation, often for years without downtime. Therefore, selecting the right outdoor LED display for a control room requires careful evaluation of technical specifications, environmental resilience, and operational reliability.

Pixel Pitch and Viewing Distance: Balancing Resolution with Visibility

Pixel pitch is the single most critical specification for a control room LED display. It defines the distance in millimeters between the center of adjacent pixels and directly determines resolution and image sharpness. For outdoor control rooms, typical pixel pitches range from 2.5 mm to 8 mm, depending on the viewing distance. If operators will view the screen from as close as 3 to 5 meters, a pixel pitch of 2.5 mm to 3.9 mm is recommended to ensure text and data are legible without pixelation. Warranty terms should cover at least five years, with options for on-site support and spare parts availability. Finally, consider the total cost of ownership, including installation, maintenance, and energy costs over the display's expected lifespan of 100,000 hours. A well-chosen outdoor LED display for a control room is an investment in operational efficiency and safety, and careful selection based on these technical criteria will yield reliable performance for years to come.
