Moisture infiltration is one of the most destructive forces affecting LED displays, particularly outdoor installations and indoor units in humid environments. Water and humidity cause corrosion of electrical contacts, short circuits on PCBs, degradation of LED phosphor coatings, and growth of mold on internal components. When moisture damage is suspected, immediately disconnect power to prevent electrical shorts from causing further damage. Open the affected cabinets and inspect for visible water accumulation, corrosion on connectors, white residue on circuit boards, and swollen or delaminated components. Dry all components thoroughly using low-heat air circulation for 24 to 48 hours before attempting to power the display. Clean corroded contacts with isopropyl alcohol and anti-corrosion treatment compounds. Replace any modules showing signs of PCB delamination or component swelling, as these indicate permanent damage.
